Haddeo Exercise

A big thank you to all the volunteers who participated in the recent Haddeo Response exercise at Wimbleball lake in Somerset. We also extend our thanks to the controllers who provided vital behind-the-scenes support.

The exercise showcased the impressive collaboration between various emergency services. The exercise simulated a midair collision and subsequent air crash. Wessex 4×4 Response volunteers were at the exercise early to support the set-up and were able to react to the SAR cell meeting following the ‘collision’.

With over 150 first responders, SAR (Search and Rescue), and LRF (Local Resilience Forum) personnel, as well as other multiple volunteer organisations, responding to a range of scenarios that came from the ‘collision’.

Our Bronze volunteer was warmly welcomed into the SAR cell, and supported the Coastguard and Ambulance teams. The well-coordinated efforts of our controller, who operated from Exmoor SAR’s ISU, proved invaluable in ensuring smooth operations for all our volunteers.

The exercise realistically simulated an emergency event, starting slow and steadily escalating to keep everyone on their toes. Volunteer actors with impressive prosthetics added another layer of realism to the scenarios.

The success of this exercise is a testament to the tremendous teamwork displayed by all participants and our volunteers. A special thanks goes out to Wessex 4×4 Response Control team for there exceptional control throughout the event.
