DorSAR Training Day

Wessex 4x4 Response Joins DorSAR Training Exercise

Over the weekend, Wessex 4×4 Response collaborated with DorSAR (Dorset Search and Rescue) in a joint training day that saw five volunteers, each with their own vehicle, coming together for a day of valuable experience and teamwork.

The training day kicked off at Silka Trail, located between Bere Regis and Wareham, just south of The Silent Woman Pub, starting promptly at 08:00 and concluding around 13:00.

Wessex 4X4 Response provided essential transportation to support the on-foot search teams of DorSAR. Our volunteers were on hand to assist in the movement of personnel and equipment, ensuring the efficiency and effectiveness of the training exercise.

The training day aim was to bolster DorSAR’s search techniques and practices, allowing them to fine-tune their skills. For Wessex 4×4 Response, it provided an invaluable opportunity to train our volunteers in navigation, communication, and coordination. Additionally, it served as a crucial platform for new volunteers to participate in training before their first live call-out, offering them confidence and a clearer understanding of what to expect during real-life situations.

This collaborative effort exemplifies the dedication and commitment of both Wessex 4×4 Response and DorSAR to serving and safeguarding our local communities, working together to enhance our capabilities and readiness in times of need.
